The position of your feet can have a big impact on your legs and hips. In my weekly classes, we regular experiment with different positions and movements for the ankle, foot and toes. This can help change where you feel the stretch and often help stretch fascia.
Lately we’ve been combining these foot movements with supta padangusthasana, also know as hand to big toe. Though in our case it’s strap to foot – but close enough!
It’s doable stretch for most people and it’s effective at stretching muscles around the hip joint and in your leg. As a result it can often help relieve back pain that’s related to your hips.
This video goes through the foot movements and how to combine them with the stretch.
