Firelog pose can be an excellent stretch for the glutes (buttocks) and outer hips. I find it particularly useful after a lot of cycling. The full version of the pose isn’t physically possible for many people because it requires that you already have a lot of hip and knee flexibility.

I prefer a more gentle version. This variation is possible for most people and safer if you have knee injuries. You can find the steps of how to do the gentle variation of firelog pose in a previous post.

Or watch the video. For many people, you’ll find this pose easier and more effective if you sit on a firm pillow or folded blanket.
